Search engine giant Google recently announced that it will be going as green as possible by purchasing electricity from Charlotte company Duke Energy.
The high-tech business will be purchasing this energy under a program that has been set up that allows companies to voluntarily pay a bit more to purchase power that has been generated using renewable sources. A business that designs and Print Presentation Folders can create ones that can be filled with Brochures and other informational materials that provide interested businesses with more information about the program and how they can put it to work for themselves.
For its part, Duke Energy will be buying the electricity from a solar farm that was recently constructed and is located in Rutherford County. A spokesperson for Google did not reveal just how much of the power needed to run its Caldwell County server farm would come from this source.
The data center maintained by Google is put to use in housing its hardware and software systems used to run its well-known search engine, as well as the other services it offers, such as YouTube, Gmail, and Blogger.
According to Duke Energy, Google is the first company to make use of the new program that allows its corporate customers to purchase energy from the utility that was produced using renewable methods.
