A gala affair will be returning to Charlotte for its second year, and one of its main goals is to bring mental illnesses out of the shadows and into the light.
It is estimated that one in five Americans is living with a mental illness, but even though it is a common issue, it often still carries a heavy stigma. The city’s Park Expo Center has been chosen to host this year’s ‘Let’s Talk About it’ fundraiser, and its goal is to raise both funds and awareness. It will also show support and solidarity for those community members who are living with mental illness, while encouraging the public to be more open in their discussions surrounding this topic.
The evening will kick off with a networking hour where the guests can meet and get to know each other. After this, the celebration will begin. There will be a program followed by dancing to music supplied by a DJ service and live band, and the party will keep on going until the wee hours of the next morning.
The charity of choice for this gala occasion will be Eustress, Inc.. This organization works to make the public aware of the importance of mental health, especially in underserved populations. Stationery printers will be able to supply photos and other visual materials to be included in a display that can be used during an event like this.
This year’s celebration will begin at 8:00 pm on May 18th. Any local companies that would like to add their support to the function have been asked to contact info@Eustressinc.org.
