Election parties keep voters in Charlotte in suspense

A number of election parties took place in and around Charlotte on the evening of November 6 as voters waited anxiously for election results to come pouring in from around the country. North Carolina, which has 15 electoral votes in the Presidential election, was a primary focus for the candidates running for the office of President of the United States. Voters gathered anxiously at election parties throughout the state not only to find out who the next President of the United States would be, but also to discover results for other local and state government elections.

While nearly all government elections tend to lend themselves to campaign and election night parties, the Presidential election every four years in the United States especially draws out the voting crowd and lends itself to rallies, campaign parties, and election night festivities. Printing companies in and around areas where these parties are prevalent may find themselves with an abundance of extra business around the time of the elections. Banner printing, poster printing, and a number of other printing services are often highly in demand when Americans go to vote.

Election night parties in and around Charlotte on the evening of November 6 included Petra’s Election Night Extravaganza, the Chi Psi Omega Election Viewing Party, Election Night Viewing Party at The Evening Muse, the Non-Partisan Watch Party at UNC, and a number of other events scattered throughout the city.

In Tuesday’s Presidential election, Mitt Romney received 50.6% of the popular vote in North Carolina. As a result, North Carolina’s 15 electoral votes went to him. Despite North Carolina’s results, however, President Obama emerged as the victor in the overall election, receiving the majority of the electoral votes across the country.
