Choosing the right trees for a landscape project just got a lot easier for Charlotte’s home horticulturalists, thanks to an upcoming online and in-person event.
Dr. Larry Mellichamp , who is a horticulturalist, professor and author, will be sharing his expertise during the “Choose Your Trees Like You Choose Your Pets” learning session. Its scheduled run time is one and a half hours, and its being offered courtesy of Wing Haven.
During the presentation, Dr. Mellichap will discuss how to choose trees that are right for a particular location, and factors such as space, microclimates, seasonal interest, and the eventual size of the plants being installed will all be reviewed. Disease and pest resistance, as well as ease of culture, are also on the agenda. There will be tips for selecting trees species and cultivars as well.
The organizer of the activity noted that everyone who registers will receive one free admission to the site’s garden as well as access to a recorded copy of the workshop. The Logo Design of each of the sponsors that helped to make the function possible have been added to the Wing Haven Gardens website.
This learning opportunity for home horticulturalists will be held on January 5, 2022, starting at 10:00 am. It can be attended online or in person at 248 Ridgewood Avenue.
