Charlotte tinkers around at faire

Locals can head to uptown Charlotte for a celebration of all things creative next month.

The inaugural Charlotte Mini Maker Faire is an all-day event where exhibitors, vendors, performers, and speakers will come together.

The faire gives individuals the opportunity to share their learning experiences, along with their inventions. From scientists to tinkers, there are people from all walks of life. It’s likely these innovators will have digital Business Cards available to exchange with other creative types.

Exhibits may include topics such as robotics, space projects, and interactive art projects. There is no cost to have an exhibit at the event. However, commercial exhibitors will need to pay $50 for a space.

There will be both indoor and outdoor exhibits. Outdoors exhibits are free and will be set up on North Tryon Street between 6th and 7th Streets.

Indoor exhibits will be available in the Discovery Place Museum. Those who want to go indoors will have to pay for museum admission. Tickets cost $15 for adults and $12 for children, between ages 2 and 13, along with seniors who are 60 and over. Kids under two and museum members get in for free.

It all takes place on October 10 from 10:00 am. until 4:00 pm. Discovery Place can be found on 301 North Tryon Street. For more information, call (704) 372-6261.
