Not everyone has access to a reliable source of clean water, but an upcoming event will give Charlotte residents a chance to make a difference and have fun doing so.
Water for People works around the globe to make sure everyone has clean water to drink, and this international organization will benefit from the annual 2020 Water for People 5K. All ages can take part, and even Fido and the family’s youngest members are also encouraged to join the excitement of the day, as strollers and leashed pets are welcome.
The runners, walkers and joggers are asked to gather at the old tracks located on the Irwin Creek Greenway between the McNinch Street and the Premier Parking lots, as this will be the staging area for the fundraiser. The first place finishers in every age group will receive a race award, and Corporate Gifts and other general prizes will be distributed once everyone has crossed the finish line.
To help raise public awareness and interest in the race, the organizers have issued a challenge to the local community. The group that can form the largest team will receive bragging rights as well as a plaque they can proudly display for the rest of the year, offering a way to show the community it cares.
This annual run for clean water for all will be taking place on April 25. Anyone who would like to register can do so through the Run Signup website.
