This May, Charlotte residents have been asked to lace up their walking shoes and show their solidarity and support for those in the community who are coping with mental illness.
Reedy Creek Park will be the site for the third annual Let’s Talk About It Mental Health Awareness Walk, and the organizers noted that one of its goals it to break the silence and remove the stigma associated with mental illness. Everyone is both welcome and encouraged to take part, and those who do can choose to register for free or pay $20.00 to receive a T-shirt, or $25.00 to sponsor a “fact sign”. These have been designed to help spread awareness and will include the name of the person, business, or group that sponsored it. Items like this can be sourced from local poster printing companies.
Registration for the day starts at 8:30 am, and after the walkers check in, they will be able to browse through the vendors fair that will be on site. The morning will kick off with a yoga session, and the full event program is scheduled to start at 10:30 am.
This day of grass roots level awareness raising will be held on May 19. Anyone who would like to find out more, or who would like to act as a sponsor, has been asked to contact the organizers at info@eustressinc.org.
