The romance of Valentine’s Day may not be everyone’s cup of tea, so a local wildlife rescue group has an alternative in the works for the Charlotte area.
Carolina Waterfowl Rescue (CWR) has organized a fundraiser that will offer an “anti-Valentine's Day” experience. This is available to those who make a $10 donation, and the proceeds will be used to help the organization continue its work in the community.
The CWR’s “Worm-est Regards” fundraising activity will see members of the public salute an ex or someone else by purchasing a mealworm, which they can name after them . These will be served to a rescue animal and live footage of this will be shown. It's even possible to have this emailed to the object of their “non-affection,” although this is optional. Full payment for the activity must be made in advance.
With so many not-for-profit groups vying for the public’s support, it may be hard for a charitable group to stand apart from the crowd. A poster printing company will be happy to help get the word out to as many as possible about activities on offer in their area.
The CWR has planned this tongue-in-cheek fundraiser to take place on February 14. Its website provides both more details and a link to pre-order a mealworm.
