Workshop teaches how to handle dogs

The Academy of Pet Careers is inviting people who are interested in dogs and their behaviour to explore the complex subject of canine aggression at an upcoming workshop.

The workshop, hosted by renowned trainer Michale Shikashio, caters to both pet owners and industry professionals. The course is spread out over two days and will teach people important dog-handling skills, such as breaking up dog fights and defensive handling.

For those pursuing continuing education credits, the workshop presents opportunities with such certifying organizations as KPA, CCPDT, and IAABC. This is an opportunity for interested parties to foster a safer environment for both individuals and their canine companions.

Aside from comprehensive training content, participants can enjoy light snacks and beverages that will be provided during breaks, with numerous lunch options conveniently accessible at nearby restaurants. A 30-day refund window applies to cancellations preceding the event, and attendees are encouraged to bring writing materials for notetaking purposes. Tickets for both days are on sale for $175. Scheduled for February 10 and February 11, the sessions will take place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with registration commencing at 8:00 am on both days. The venue for the course will be the Academy of Pet Careers on West Clay Street in St. Charles. Guest are advised that although the workshop is dog-related, only service animals can be brought along.
