There is still time for St. Charles families to head over to celebrate Christmas with their neighbors and attend O’Fallon’s Celebration of Lights. Over 10,000 vehicles come to this event every year.
Local organizations and businesses have funded the lighted holiday scenes. No reservations will be needed if visitors drive through the park on Tuesdays through Sunday in their own vehicles.
Monday through Sunday, carriage rides are available and will accommodate up to six people in the smaller carriages and 12 passengers in the larger ones. The smaller carriages are available for $65 and the larger ones cost $145.
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm, and 8:00 pm, sleigh rides are available. Each sleigh accommodates 20 people and the $120 per sleigh reservations must be made in advanced.
Guests going on the specialty rides are advised to use the Plackemeier Drive entrance to the park when arriving and are advised to bring blankets to keep warm.
The O’Fallon Celebration of Lights runs every evening except Mondays until December 30 in Fort Zumwalt Park, 1000 Jessup Lane, O’Fallon. The event is open from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesdays through Thursdays, and 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Towns that put on holiday events such as this usually have pictures taken. These photos often go into the following year’s visitor brochure printing.
