In a few days, St. Charles will be welcoming the holidays with its annual Saint Charles Christmas Traditions.
For over 40 years, this event has been showering St. Charles with Christmas figures, carolers, dining, and shopping opportunities.
Some free events will include the Opening Day Ceremony. In Berthold Square, the Cobblestone Wassailiers and Mayor Sally Faith will join with well-wishers in lighting the Saint Charles’ Official Christmas Tree. Guests will be treated to cups of hot wassail.
The Santa Parade will march down Main Street on Saturdays and Sundays. The route will begin at 1000 South Main Street and end at Frontier Park at the Jaycee Stage. Carolers and the festive characters will march down the route.
The finale will be a cavalcade of international Santas bearing their nations’ flags. Our own Santa and Mrs. Claus will end the procession riding in their horse-drawn carriage.
The free events also include Candlelight readings of ‘T’was the Night Before Christmas’ and interactive presentations of Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’. The Cobblestone Wassailiers will be in concert, and there will be evening candlelight processionals.
Kids can get their Christmas photos taken with Santa’s reindeer. Pictures can be taken to local Print shops to be made into this year’s Holiday Cards.
