St. Charles commemorates independence with parade and festival

St. Charles Riverfest will once again take place to mark the 4th of July celebration.

The opening evening will have Byrne & Kelly, Midnight Piano Band, and the Patt Holt Singers. The next night will have Platinum Rock Legends preceded by Luster Lights, Whiskey Morning, Fort Leonard Wood Rough Riders, and the Saint Charles Municipal Band. Parade winners will be announced at 1:00 pm.

Other entertainment over both days will include the Fountain City Amusement Carnival, the bubble bus, face painting, Way Cool Balloons and a visit from the St. Louis Cardinals’ mascot Fredbird. Kids may enjoy getting pictures with the bird for future poster printing or seeing if he brought any Promotional Products with him. The Flipside Gymnastics Ashley Aerialists will be giving four-hour performances during the evenings.

A Children’s Area will be added on the 4th where the Foundry Art Centre will be providing activities.

The 4th of July Parade will start at Bales Park, then turn south onto North Main. It will then go right onto Tecumseh and continue until it reaches North Second Street, where it will turn left. At Clark, it will again turn left and finally it will proceed right on North Main.

Riverfest will be July 3 from 5:00 pm to 10:30 pm and July 4 from noon until 10:30 pm at Frontier Park. The parade will start on July 4 at 10:00 am and the fireworks will begin at 9:20 pm.
