The opening day of the 45th edition of Saint Charles Christmas Traditions will come in about a month’s time
The event will kick off with the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Claus at Kister Park’s gazebo at 11:00 am, November 29. They will be accompanied by Legends of Christmas and the Lewis & Clark Fife and Drum Corps.
The Santa Parade will have its first run at 1:30 pm. Legendary Christmas figures, storybook characters, carolers, and a fleet of flags from other countries will precede Mr. and Mrs. Claus as they ride down Main Street in a horse-drawn carriage.
Santa will be in his cottage from noon until 5:00 pm, except while he is in the parade. Kids can get their pictures taken with Santa in his parlor in Santa’s workshop at Katy Depot. Pictures taken this early in the season can still be taken to local Stationery printers to become Holiday Cards.
Other activities will include a reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” “A Christmas Carol” in Kister Park, Ice Block Party in Berhold Square, and a Land of Sweets Dance Party at the gazebo. The Cobblestone Wassailiers will be in concert at Berthold Square at 3:30 pm.
That evening at 5:00 pm, the Cobblestone Wassailiers and local revelers will take part in the lighting of the city’s official Christmas tree. Hot wassail will be available afterward.
Opening day begins at 11:00 am and ends around 9:00 pm.
