A developer based in St. Louis plans to construct a hotel and apartment complex adjacent to the St. Charles casino. The project will build upon the pre-pandemic project of another developer that did not materialize.
Lux Living is proposing a project named "Heart of St. Charles" on the five-acre plot located at the intersection of South Main Street and Ameristar Boulevard. The property shares borders with the Ameristar Casino Resort and Interstate 70. According to city documents, the project involves demolishing The Heart of St. Charles banquet center, which is why the development is referred to as "Heart of St. Charles." The city also mentioned that a previously submitted plan by the property owner, Sheri Steffens, was approved in 2019 but never came to fruition.
Under the name Olympus St. Charles LLC, Lux Living has submitted an application for city approval to expand on the earlier project. City filings reveal that the new proposal entails a larger apartment complex and a second hotel at the site. The development would comprise an apartment complex, restaurant, bar, retail spaces, and another hotel adjacent to the recently constructed Hampton Inn, which was part of the previous plans. Graphic design could be used in situations like this to illustrate upcoming projects.
The proposed apartment building would consist of six stories and 280 units, built atop a three-level underground parking garage. According to a city report, this new project would substantially enhance the scope of the earlier proposal.
