The 16th Annual Missouri River Irish Festival will take place towards the middle of May.
Widely considered the Midwest’s largest free festival of its kind, for three days, Frontier Park will be turned into a celebration of Irish culture, music, food and merchandise. The St. Charles venue will feature Irish dancers, cultural exhibits and Irish Wolf Hounds. A children’s village will have activities and crafts for the kids, and little ones can enjoy activities in Wee Village.
More than 15 vendors will be selling everything from handcrafted lead-free pewter, Celtic jewelry, Irish themed gifts and clothing, to drinking horns, and traditional Irish and Scottish kilts. Other vendors will sell non-Irish wares such as home-exterior windows, gourmet kitchen items, handmade sarongs, and leaf gutter protection. Merchants at events such as this usually bring Business Cards so guests can get in touch with them at a later date.
Foodies can enjoy concessions such as funnel cakes, shaved ice, kettle corn, and fudge. Savory options will be chicken wings, pulled pork BBQ, and grilled Reubens, kabobs, and empanadas.
The Steel City Rovers will play Celtic music mixed with American folk, roots, and bluegrass. The Irish Aires will play Irish folk music for two nights.
The Missouri River Irish Fest, at the time of writing, is scheduled for Memorial Weekend, May 22 from 5:00 pm until 11:00 pm, May 23 from 10:00 am until 11:00 pm, and May 24 from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm.
