St. Louis to celebrate African culture with festival

St. Louis will organize a fest in August to honor those with African heritage at the Crown Square Plaza.

The St. Louis African American Artifacts Festival and Bazaar is an event that embraces the history and culture of Africa through music, dance, and food. The family-oriented event will also feature activities for kids and showcase local health and wellness resources. The festival's mission is to cultivate awareness and appreciation of African culture. Vendors may participate in the bazaar for $100, and those who sell food items can pay $175 to reserve a space.

The festival was created by Robert Green in 2013 to expose younger generations to African culture and history. Green started collecting African artifacts and historical photos from estate sales and antique shops after becoming an electrical engineer. He wanted to capture and promote the dignity of his people. People can support Green's festival by volunteering at the bazaar. The festival also accepts virtual donations from supporters.

The event will be on Saturday, August 19th from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm. There is no cost to visit the bazaar. Businesses interested in advertising at Green's fest can purchase a space inside the event program. A full-page colored ad will cost companies $600, and a half-page ad will be $100. Event organizers for cultural fests similar to this may use banner printing to promote their sponsors to attendees.
