St. Louis plans open house

Residents of St. Louis who are interested in a roadway and corridor improvement project are invited to an upcoming open house.

The City of St. Louis, the Missouri Department of Transportation, and the St. Louis Development Corporation have earmarked $130m for work on the North Jefferson/Parnell corridor. The goal of the project is to make it easier to travel between North and South St. Louis.

The project involves about two miles of Parnell Street and North Jefferson Avenue, where corridor and roadway improvements are planned. This include installing traffic calming devices, resurfacing the roadway, installing ADA crosswalks, upgrading the timing of signals at intersections, and beautifying the public right-of-way along the corridor.

The open house will be casual, without a formal presentation being given. Residents are welcome to talk to people involved in the project, and stay as long as they like. Maps will be displayed, along with other materials, and children's activities are planned. Residents are also encouraged to ask questions of officials who will be present, and provide their own ideas and comments. Flyer printing is often used create materials for events like this.

The meeting will take place from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm next Tuesday, July 9. The location is Gateway Elementary School at 1200 North Jefferson Avenue. The school is on one of the streets involved in the project.
