Boeing increasing its St. Louis presence

Boeing Company, the world's largest aircraft manufacturer, will soon start making parts for its commercial airliners in St. Louis.

The company is already manufacturing missiles and fighter jets for the military here. On October 13, a ribbon-cutting ceremony opened the company's new facility.

Boeing said its new plant, which comprises 424,000 square feet, cost more than $300m. The facility will make composite parts for the firm's newest jet, the 777X. In May, Boeing opened a Washington state factory where it will make wings for this aircraft. Tail and wing edge parts for the 777X will be manufactured at the new St. Louis plant, and production is slated to start early in 2017. Once the parts are finished, they will be trucked to the plant in Washington for assembly.

The 777X is the replacement for the 777, an extremely successful aircraft Boeing introduced in 1995, and the company had 306 orders for the new plane through the month of September. Boeing plans to produced two models of the 777X, named the 777X-8 and the 777X-9.

Boeing also says that the new plant will bring about 700 jobs with it by 2020.

Companies like these can benefit by working with business card printing companies, which can design cards for new employees and announce their arrival in the area through printed media.
