Those in Ham Lake interested in creating their own websites can attend a virtual class in October provided by the Anoka County Library.
Starting Your WordPress Website is a two-part program where students will learn the basics of creating an operational site. The first course will focus on making site maps to plan the website’s structure. Important topics covered during the lesson include designing headers, inserting images, and creating pages for the site. Those who have a Logo Design they wish to work into the website will also be taught how to brand their pages.
The second aspect of the course will provide attendees with details about customization techniques. The instructor will go over how to implement useful plugins that enhance user experiences, such as adding a Google map onto the website and connecting the site to the creator’s social media. Students will even learn how to customize their page colors, font types, and themes to elevate the site’s visuals.
The first portion of the course will occur on Thursday, October 14th and the second part will take place on Thursday, October 28th. Both lessons will last from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm and are intended for adult students. All guests must register for the class to be sent a link to join the presenter’s Zoom meeting. Participants will not need to pay for the course.
