Ham Lake to offer quilt painting class

The Rumriver Art Center will visit the North Central Library in Ham Lake to offer a class on creating book quilts.

Paint a Book Quilt is a program where library patrons can take part in a community art project. The session will invite people to paint on a canvas that will be attached to a large book-themed quilt. The completed quilt project will be displayed at the library and Rumriver Art Center. Those participating in the art program can theme their creations after book covers or use original designs. Guests will get to use acrylic paints to work on their additions to the quilt.

The Rumriver Art Center is an organization that wishes to provide people of all abilities a welcoming environment for immersing themselves in the artistic process. Many community programs are organized by the art center, such as Create to Donate, Community Art: People Creating With People, and open studio sessions. The group also partners with local organizations like The City of Ramsey. Some classes offered by the center include pottery courses and virtual art lessons.

The library’s art program will be held on Friday, February 21st from 3:00 pm to 4:45 pm. Registration for the community project is not required, and there is no price for guests to contribute to the quilt. The activity is intended for those who are 10 and older. Libraries that offer community experiences like this may use poster printing to inform people about their events.
