Ham Lake bowling alley to hold fundraiser

The Black Woods Blizzard Tour will organize a bowling fundraiser in January at Ham Lake Lanes.

The 2nd Annual Strike Out ALS is a fundraising activity where people can compete in a bowling event to raise money for scientific research on the condition. The bowling team who wins the competition will receive a trophy. Teams can raise money in advance to give themselves a higher handicap during the tournament, with each dollar raised equally an extra handicap point. There are no limits to the number of handicap points a group can raise for the bowling competition.

The Black Woods Blizzard Tour is a snowmobile ride and fundraiser that supports those impacted by ALS. While the main tour is held in February, the organizers also create events like the Strike Out ALS activity to help meet their fundraising goal. The snowmobile tour was created by Randy Bannor, Larry Bannor, Greg Sorenson, and Dennis Nelson in 1999. People interested in joining the fundraiser will have a minimum fundraising goal of $2,300.

The bowling tournament will be held on Sunday, January 5th at noon. Those interested in joining the ALS fundraiser can pay $100 per team. Each bowling team can have up to five members. There are only 24 open spots for teams in the competition. Bowling alleys that host similar fundraising events to this can promote their special programs to patrons with poster printing services.
