This February, the On the Run! Canine Center in Ham Lake, Minnesota will be hosting a competition testing the agility of multiple dogs.
Every month, the training center holds various competitions to measure the abilities of the dogs it works with, giving both the animals and trainers the opportunity to showcase their talent with the chance of winning a prize. Canine Performance Events Inc. will be sanctioning the event and helping the On the Run! Canine Center with enforcing the rules of the competition. There are multiple weight and height classes, so most non-aggressive breeds are permitted to enter the event.
The agility test is a course where the dogs and their handlers work their way around a series of different obstacles, competing for the fastest time and the best accuracy. Challenges include open tunnels, jumping bars, weaving through poles, and balancing on a teetering platform. Every jump during the event will be higher than four inches. Handlers are allowed to use verbal and visual commands to lead their dogs through the course but are unable to rely on leashes, food, or training devices.
The event will be held over multiple days, starting on February 22 and lasting until February 24. All dogs that participate must be checked in earlier in the day before the competition begins. For any handlers who are interested in entering the agility test, the On the Run! Canine Center has utilized brochure printing to provide an informational packet online.
