Plymouth set to celebrate Dickensian holidays

The works of Charles Dickens provide a glimpse into what the winter holidays were like back in the 19th Century, and a Plymouth evening will offer a taste of that time period for local music lovers.

The Plymouth Historical Museum will be hosting a musical evening that will showcase the talents of the Simply Dickens Period Musical Group, and it will be the 11th year for this performance. It will be held on one night only, and many of the pieces that are included in the lineup will be ones that would have been popular during the 1800s.

The group will perform a selection of songs, and these will be accompanied by skits and other comedic offerings. The performers will be dressed in period attire, and those who arrive early for the show will have time to browse through the “Christmas With the First Ladies” exhibit which will be on display.

To help keep everyone safe form COVID-19, it was noted that this year, social distancing protocols will be strictly enforced. Masks are mandatory, and a printing services company can prepare signage that can be posted at an event like this to remind the ticket holders that these policies have been put into place.

This chance to take a festive step back in time to the days of Dickens will be on offer on December 11th. The Plymouth Historical Museum, which will host the performance, can be found at 155 South Main Street.
