From Friday, January 20th until Sunday, January 22nd, the community of Plymouth will be celebrating its annual Ice Festival in Kellogg Park in downtown Plymouth at 831 Penniman Avenue, Plymouth, Michigan. The festivities will include something for the whole family including huge ice sculptures, food vendors, product vendors and tons of other wintertime activities.
The kick off for this event, as advertised on Flyers by local Print companies, starts at 3 pm with presentations and an official ribbon cutting ceremony. After that, massive ice carvers getting underway to create their artistic impression in ice, followed by winter sports fun with McDonalds offering a very special meet and greet with the Plymouth Whalers. Super Grover, Sesame Street, will make a live appearance. Festivities continue into the evening hours with live entertainment, the Shawn Riley Band, Lighting of the MGM Grand Detroit Fire and Ice Torch, and more.
Saturday will feature a carving competition, more winter fun, a live presentation of Radio Disney Live, and Don Massey Cadillac on the main stage. Sunday, the event continues with judging and scoring of the ice sculptures taking place between 3 and 4, just before the event closes.
Throughout this three day event, the ice sculptures are available for viewing 24 hours a day. The Salvation Army will be collecting much needed clothing, winter coats, winter hats and mitts for the needy, so don’t forget to bring along those your kids have outgrown.
