After being dark for nearly a year and a half, an iconic Plymouth location has come alive again.
Up until about 16 months ago, 777 Ann Arbor Trail was home to the Box Bar, which had called the location home for about 75 years. Now, the address is the home of the fifth metro-Detroit location of Bigalora Cucina, a pizzeria.
The new restaurant is owned by Michael Chetcuti, Mike Collins, and Luciano Del Signore. A centerpiece of the eatery is a brick oven that reaches 900°F.
The menu at the pizzeria also full of preservative-free, made-from-scratch food choices.
Restaurants that are opening a new location can use flyer printing to get the word out and to get customers to come check out the newest spot.
Speaking to Plymouth Hometown Life, Co-owner Collins said that they had had their eye on downtown Plymouth for a while. The only thing that stood in their way was the fact that the restaurant's location had been off the market for nearly eight decades.
The three owners signed a lease for the 10,000-square-foot space back in December 2017. Along with opening the 120-seat pizzeria, the three also plan to open a brewery at the same location.
So far, Bigalora has proven to be popular with Plymouth residents. The restaurant's been full every day, owner and chef Del Signore told Hometown Life.
