Weight Watchers honors long-time losers

Florine Mark, president and CEO of The WW Group, Inc. – which is the parent organization of Weight Watchers – will be on hand to honor residents who have lost 50 pounds or more and managed to keep it off.

The annual celebration, the 15th such event, is slated for later today. It will be held at the Farmington Hills Manor on Orchard Lake Road, and is free and open to members of the public. Doors will open at 4.30pm, and the program is set to start at 6pm.

Weight Watchers says those to be honored at what it calls a “Celebration of Success” have lost approximately 12,000 pounds in total. Mark adds that despite a global epidemic of obesity, there are many success stories in the Detroit and Farmington Hills area.

Weight Watchers, which was founded in 1963, stresses that dieting is only one component of managing weight over the long-term. The company provides support to people as they not only lose weight, but learn nutritional values, how to make good choices, and how to shop for food. They also encourage exercise and provide valuable information during the weekly meetings that are held around the world.

Weight Watchers could work with a banner printing company to create colorful celebratory Banners to be hung up at the venue to add to the festivities.
