Unique violinist to appear near Farmington Hills

A violinist who has created a new music genre will appear near Farmington Hills.

Dixon has performed at Burning Man for more than ten years, appeared at Electric Forest, given a TED.com talk, and made film, television, and radio appearances. His performances are known as “Dixon’s Violin.” Once a symphony violinist and leader in technology, Dixon gave up his career to follow his mission in life, which is to inspire others.

In order to make his dream a reality, Dixon developed a unique instrument—a five-string electric violin complete with a looping system that allows him to create entire works of music as he plays. When an artist “live loops” music, he or she creates track after track as they play, until they have created an entire work.

The event will be held outdoors at CenterPeace on Freedom Road in Farmington, a few miles from Farmington Hills. Attendees are asked to be aware that everyone may not be comfortable in a crowd, and to please maintain space. In addition, concert goers will need to bring their own blankets or chairs. Flow toys, hula hoops, and yoga mats are also welcome.

The concert is set for September 17 at 8.00 pm, with the doors open at 7.30 pm. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door, and the event is suitable for people of all ages. Children 12 years of age and under are free. Poster printing is often used to publicize events like this
