A golf tournament is now scheduled in Farmington Hills to support charities and scholarships.
The Alpha Phi Alpha Iota Rho Lambda Chapter has teamed up with the Resource For Humanitarian Outreach (R.H.O.) Foundation to host the 36th Annual Scholarship Golf Invitational. The two organizations advocate for the local community, and award more than 20 scholarships annually. They also sponsor or take part in local events including the Back-to-School Fair in Pontiac, Michigan; and West Bloomfield’s We Walk Dr. MLK Jr. event; as well as mentoring young people and working on voter registration drives.
The golf tournament features a shotgun start, a meal, a gift bag, and lunch, which will be served to-go to keep everyone safe and healthy. Raffles are also on the schedule, with cash prizes in the thousands. There is also a Vegas Hole planned, and one winner will receive a year’s new vehicle lease. Proceeds will go to support outreach activities in the community and scholarships throughout Oakland County. Participants in events like this would benefit from having a schedule, which can be created by flyer printing.
The tournament is scheduled for August 7 at the Farmington Hills Golf Club on 11 Mile Road. The event opens at 7.30 am with the shotgun start at 8.00 am. Organizers say they will take payment via credit card, Zelle, or Cashapp, but will not be able to accept personal Checks at the tournament.
