Farmington Hills gets ready for Valentine's Day

The Farmington Hills Nature Center has a different idea for people who would like to celebrate Valentine's Day. Instead of candy and flowers, they suggest people take part in the ‘Stroll with Your Sweetheart’ event in Heritage Park.

The paths for the evening hike will be lit by ice candles, and a naturalist will be on hand to talk about courtship behaviors of the nocturnal animals found in the park, and how they relate to similar behaviors in human beings. Organizers of events like this might consider using banner printing to create special decorations for the evening.

The evening's activities are designed with adults in mind, so it is requested to leave youngsters at home. Attendees should plan to dress appropriately for the weather, including wearing sturdy shoes, since most of the evening's program is scheduled to take place outdoors. Participants should gather at the Farmington Hills Nature Center in Heritage Park, which is located at 24915 Farmington Road, between 11 and 10 Mile Roads.

The price for the evening is $5 per person, and it is strongly recommended that interested parties preregister, either at the Costick Center, or at the city's website, since space is limited.

Stroll with Your Sweetheart is set for 7:30 pm until 8:30 pm on February 14. Sweet treats and hot drinks will be available in the Nature Center to help people warm up.
