Farmington Hill hosts blood drive

The City of Farmington Hills has joined forces with the American Red Cross to organize a blood donation drive.

Individuals of all blood types are encouraged to participate, with particular emphasis on Type O Positive, as it can be used on patients in different groups and is crucial in emergency situations where a patient's blood type has not been identified.

Hospitals rely on blood donations for surgical procedures, critical trauma and emergency care, and to treat severe illnesses. Those who wish to book an appointment should go to the Red Cross Blood website and use the code "costickcenter" to sign up. More instructions on how to complete the booking will be provided. As a token of appreciation, all individuals attempting to donate will get an e-gift card worth $10 and will also be given a raffle ticket for a chance to win Cedar Point tickets valid until the end of the year. Promotional Products tend to be given away at such events.

To be eligible to donate, individuals must be in good overall health, weigh 115lb or more, and be at least 17 years old, although 16-year-olds may be allowed to donate if they arrive with a parent who can sign the permission form. The blood donation process typically takes about an hour, although it could take longer depending on the availability of staff.

The blood donation drive is scheduled to take place from 8:00 am to 7:45 pm on Wednesday, June 14. The Costick Center will be hosting the drive.
