A fundraiser has been started for a development in downtown Farmington Hills.
The project called Enterprise Pocket Park, and it could be completed this year. The project developers have released a digital rendering of what the park would look like when completed. Graphic design can be used during the design phases of a project like this.
If the crowdfunding campaign is able to raise $75,000, the project will be eligible for a matching grant from the Public Spaces Community Places program operated by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). The Farmington Downton Development Authority and the MEDC put out a press release where they said that the platform Patronicity is being used for the crowdfunding effort, and the plan is to make the park universally accessible.
The Public Spaces Community Places initiative was started in 2014. It works with the MEDC to match funds raised by the community for local projects all over Michigan. Communities working with the initiative have earned matching funds with a 97 percent success rate.
The pocket park – simply meaning a small, scaled-down park – will be built on Farmington Road. The press release also states that the project intends to turn what is currently a tired asphalt space into a green, vibrant, and lighted area. Features people can expect to see at the park include firepits, overhead lighting, planters, and trees.
