Campfire activities on offer at Farmington Hills festival

A community event wants to honor the fall season by blending classic autumn pursuits with special activities.

A main highlight of Hay Day is the big campfire, where people can roast marshmallows and hot dogs. They may also join in on hayrides that go through Heritage Park for a view of autumn scenery. Little ones and grown-ups alike can have fun with activities such as painting pumpkins.

In this year's event, there will be the Marshmallow Fly & Fry which used to happen on a different date. This part has a marshmallow drop where marshmallows from up high are dropped for people to gather and roast over the fire afterward. The marshmallow drops have been organized based on age groups, making sure it is safe and fun for all kids involved. There are separate sessions for those aged 5 and under, ages 6-8 years old, as well as 9 years old and up. Information about how to get ready for an event can be shared using banner printing.

Another activity scheduled for Hay Day is the guided fall foliage hikes led by the Nature Center. Here, people can learn about the local ecosystem and see how it changes with the seasons. There will also be tours of a Farmington Hills Fire Department fire engine.

On October 1st at Heritage Park, Farmington Hills will host the yearly Hay Day & Marshmallow Fly & Fry event.
