The Farmington Area Arts Commission has named its selections for the year in in three separate areas.
The Distinguished Service to the Arts Awards, the 2015 Artist in Residence, and the High School Student Art Competition have been named, and were honored during an April 17 ceremony.
The event took place in Farmington Hills at the Costick Center, which is located at 28600 W. Eleven Mile Road. Tickets were £10 each, although some early buyers managed to secure themselves a $2 discount thanks to a pre-April 8 deal.
This is the 39th year in which artists have recognized in Farmington and Farmington Hills. The Distinguished Service Award goes to an individual or group that has provided superior service for the community via creative arts. The Artist in Residence Award recognizes a local who displays exceptional artistic accomplishment and talent. The high school competition is an annual event open to anyone attending high school in Farmington Hills or Farmington.
The Artist in Residence this year is Ara Topouzian, and the Service award went to local nonprofit the kickstART Foundation. At the high school level, awards were handed out for two-dimensional and three-dimensional art, as well as photography.
The Arts Commission might consider working with a poster printing company on a display featuring information about the awards event, and ideas for 2016.
