The Farmington Hills City hall will be the site of a reception held in order that the public can see new works by local artists.
Visitors will be able to meet some of the artists as they walk through the building. Light refreshments will also be provided for visitors to enjoy while they view the exhibit.
The current exhibit is part of the Public Art Program established by the city. The show features work by 32 artists from Farmington Hills, Farmington, and other nearby communities. The artists have agreed to loan their works to the city for the next two years. Works on display are completed in a variety of media, including photography, metal, paint, fiber, glass, and clay. Subjects range from contemporary to traditional.
Those who attend the reception will be able to vote for their favorite work. The artist who gets the most votes will be able to display more of his or her pieces in a special exhibit that will be in place from February through April.
The reception is scheduled for January 12, 2015, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Farmington Hills City Hall. The building is located at 31555 West Eleven Mile Road. At 7:00 pm, Mayor Barry Bricker is slated to give a formal presentation.
City officials could work with a catalog printing company to develop an indexed collection of the works displayed.
