Art program schedules reception

Farmington Hills has a new exhibit of artwork on display, and everyone is invited to a reception to celebrate the latest works of talented artists who have contributed to the city's Public Art Program.

Many of the artists will be in attendance at the reception, and visitors will be able to meet and talk with them, and take a walk through the building as well. Light refreshments will be served, and Ken Massey, Farmington Hills' mayor, will have some opening remarks.

The current exhibit is the Public Art Program's fifth phase, and features work provided by 63 artists from Farmington Hills, Farmington, and other nearby communities. The artists, who have worked in a number of different media including glass, paint, fiber, metal, clay, and photography, have agreed to loan their work to Farmington Hills for two years.

Those who attend the event will be able to cast their vote for their favorite artwork. The artist who gets the most votes will be given the opportunity to display even more of their work in a special exhibit that will be part of the Rotating Exhibits Gallery, which is near the chambers of the city council. Participants in events like this have an opportunity to distribute their Business Cards to visitors.

The reception is set for Monday, January 14, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at the Farmington Hills City Hall, which is on West Eleven Mile Road. Mayor Massey will speak at 7:15 pm.
