Farmington and Farmington Hills students were able to enjoy the annual Festival of the Arts in Costick Center recently.
The Special Services Department of the City of Farmington Hills, in cooperation with the Farmington Public Schools and the Farmington Community Arts Council, put on the event. This year's festival had the theme ‘Grow with the Arts’, and featured over 200 paintings done by Farmington Art Foundation members, as well as those done by students from grade levels from elementary school through college.
Farmington students from the fourth grade visited the exhibit on two days to examine the art, and some of theirs was displayed. They could also listen to music played by Farmington Public School musicians, and chat with the artists.
Janet Hall, who is president of the Farmington Community Arts Council, said the purpose of the exhibit is to expose children to fine art. She believes that people who have a chance to study works of art when they are young to develop a life-long interest in it.
Joline Markovitch, who has been helping with the festival for years, said she likes to see children get excited when they see fine art for the first time.
Festival organizers could consider working with a poster printing company to create artistic, colorful Posters to advertise next year's event.Get a Free Quote for Posters
