The Chesapeake Life Center will be offering grief support services for children and teens in Waldorf.
Stepping Stones is a six-week support group where those aged 6-18 can learn how to process grief. The program helps participants with normalizing their grief reactions and teaches beneficial coping skills. The meetings also provide a social space for parents and guardians each week. The group will focus on youths who have been impacted by a loss within the last 12 months, and those in the program are expected to commit to every session.
The Chesapeake Life Center is a resource offered by Hospice of the Chesapeake that helps people who are dealing with losses. The services provided by the organization include grief counseling and family-centered grief support. The life center also offers grief camps for youths from 6-18 that provide campers with safe spaces for expressing feelings and sharing memories. A two-hour virtual workshop was created by the group, titled SoulCollageĀ® and Grief: A Primer for Grievers.
The support program will be held from Wednesday, March 15 to Wednesday, April 26. Each weekly session will be from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, with no meeting taking place on April 5. Those interested in joining Stepping Stones must register in advance. Organizations offering services like this can promote their group sessions with poster printing services.
