Waldorf library to celebrate children in reading program

The Waldorf West Branch Library will hold an event in December for the kids in its early literacy program.

The 500 by Five Celebration is a program where children in the 500 by Five program can receive recognition for their reading accomplishments. The party will include a special storytime session and a crafts project where kids can make a crown. There will also be photo opportunities with a librarian and a designated themed photo station. Guests can even win prizes during the event. Children who recently joined the program will also receive recognition.

The 500 by Five Early Literacy Program was created by the Charles County Public Library to encourage more children to read. The program aims to help kids read at least 500 Books before they turn five years old. Only children who are five and under can sign up for the library’s program. Parents who register their kids will receive a free activity book to track the books their children read. Kids can also join the Imagination Library of Charles County to be given a free book each month.

The 500 by Five Celebration will be held on Saturday, December 7th from 11:00 am to noon. Parents must register their kids for the program in advance. Doors to the library’s celebration will open at 9:45 am. Organizations that put together similar programs can use flyer printing services to advertise their family events to their communities.
