The Animal Welfare League of Queen Anne’s County will be holding Kent Island’s first annual Mardi Gras Pet Parade early in March.
The Stevensville parade will be open to all pets and their owners. Entrants both animal and human will be in family-friendly home-made costumes and all pets will be on leashes or on decorated floats, strollers or wagons.
Judges will award prizes to the costume with the best Mardi Gras theme, the Most Elaborate and Most Original costumes.
Both spectators and parade entrants will get to enjoy food, music and beverages. The Queen Anne’s County’s rescue crew will have animals available for adoption.
Proceeds from the parade will go to the Queen Anne County animal rescue programs. The Animal Welfare League of Queen Anne’s County is a non-profit organization that’s mission is to improve and save the lives of homeless animals through humane educational programs, animal care and pet adoption.
This will be an opportunity for organizers to have pictures taken of this inaugural event to take to local Print shops to be included in any brochure printing.
All registered parade entrants must check in by 12:30 pm and queue up at 425 Cleat Street in front of the BOE Marine and Blackwater Distilling & Tavern Sunday March 3rd. The parade will begin at 1 pm and end around 3 pm. Entry fee will be $20.
