Kent Island explores its history with annual heritage day

The annual Kent Island Heritage Day is taking place in a few weeks, celebrating its founding in 1631. The event is presented by the Kent Island Heritage Society.

The day starts off with a parade down Main Street. The downtown area will be taken over by arts and crafts vendors, information booths from local non-profit organizations, food concessions, historical reenactments, and exhibits and plenty of children's activities. Visitors can also take part in hands-on demonstrations of historic pastimes, suggesting that there will be something taking place during the day to appeal to every member of the family no matter what their age or interests. It will be an opportunity for residents to learn about the history of the area.

Those who are planning to rent booths during the day will want to make sure that visitors notice what they have to offer. Vendors who participate in similar events in the Stevensville area often invest in services such as banner printing, since a colorful banner hung over a booth can encourage people to stop and see what is on offer.

Kent Island Heritage Day takes place on May 17 from 10:30 am - 4:30 pm, and there is no charge to attend. To find out more about the day, or to become a vendor or exhibitor, call 410-758-2520.
