Erlanger children digging on dinosaurs

The Kenton County Public Library is helping encourage young paleontologists this June with their program Dinosaur Dig! The event is aimed at young children with

a passion for Books, music, and the Cretaceous Period.

The afternoon is divided up into two parts. The first section centers around learning about dinosaurs themselves. Attendees will hear stories revolving around dinosaurs such as Dinosaur Roar! and the Big Book of Big Dinosaurs. Participants will also sing songs about dinosaurs including cover songs set to Mary Had a Little Lamb and Do You Know the Muffin Man?

The second part involves learning more about paleontologists and what they do. The children will learn about the lives of some real paleontologists and what their job involves. Afterwards, everyone will go outside and participate in a dinosaur dig. ‘Real’ dinosaur bones have been buried, and attendees will be given special tools to help get them out. The dig is set up to give children an authentic yet age-appropriate experience with paleontology.

Dinosaur Dig! will be held on June 11 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Kenton County Library, located at 401 Kenton Lands Rd. The cost for the event is free, but there are only 40 spaces available, so pre-registration is required. Families interested in this or future goings-on can contact the Library directly for event Calendars.
