A new park will be opening in Boise, dedicated to celebrating those who survived cancer, giving hope to those facing the disease, and quelling fears among non-sufferers.
The park, named ‘The Bloch Cancer Survivor Plaza’, is funded by a $1m grant from the Kansas City based RA Bloch Cancer Foundation.
The new facility will be located within Julia Davis Park, and will have gardens, pathways, and stone veneer walls. There will be inspirational messages spread throughout, and the whole thing is designed to be calming and peaceful.
‘The Road to Recovery’ pathway will have signage with messages of hope and comfort placed along it, and there is also a kinetic sculpture, named ‘Wind Dancer’, created by local artist Mark Baltes. The flowers and other landscaping elements have been chosen to provide soothing scents and colors.
All of this is part of just one of 24 parks across the U.S. and Canada that have been sponsored by the RA Bloch Cancer Foundation. All of them are intended to provide hope. The official opening of the park will take place on November 20th at 11:00 am. Boise’s mayors will be on hand to take part in the ceremony.
A place like this can provide a welcome dose of inspiration to those battling cancer. A printing company can produce signage with messages of support to be placed throughout the park.
