The Idaho State Department of Education is seeking the help of 120 residents to come to Boise to assist in reviewing the questions that may be asked on its new Standardized Achievement tests.
Parents, school board members, and educators are all invited to apply for positions on the review committee, which will be reviewing 30,000 test questions covering math and English. Rather than the former multiple choice style, they are designed to assess critical thinking skills, and will require either an explanation or essay response.
Anyone traveling to sit on the committee will be reimbursed, at the state rate, for their travel expenses. Applications will be accepted up until October 30th. People can visit the department’s website for further information into the new testing format, the rationale behind the change from the old style tests, or details on how they can help on the committee.
Those who volunteer their time for this can have their job made much easier through the use of specially printed materials such as Notepads to write down any comments they may have, printed Pens, and other items. These can all be obtained from local Stationery printers.
Volunteers will sit in Boise from December 15 until the 19 from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Should that not provide an adequate amount of time, they will be asked to return from January 6 to 8. Those wishing to take part must be able to commit to doing this.
