If things go as planned, Bown Crossing could be the latest community in Boise to have its own branch of the public library.
The director of the library, Kevin Booe, noted that the new facility, which is set to open before the end of next year, will include a collection that contains more than 50,000 items, as well as 10 mobile devices and 38 desktop computers that will be available for use by members of the public. A parking lot with room for 70 bikes and 106 cars will provide parking for those who wish to use their own vehicle to go to the library.
Those who would like to see artists conceptual drawings of what the new building are invited to visit Boise Public Library’s website. These can also be printed onto items for distribution to interested stakeholders, perhaps with the help of a company that provides marketing services.
Booe went on to say that certain facets of its design have been planned with the environment in mind. The pavement in the lot will be permeable by water, which will allow rainwater to reach the soil beneath it. There will also be a station where patrons can charge their electric vehicles, a heating and cooling system that is highly efficient, a roof that reflects solar energy, a storm water management system, and the interior spaces of the building will be lit largely by daylight.
