An event has been planned for Boise that will give the public an opportunity to learn about archeology.
The Archeology Fair will give those who come out a chance to find out more about the state’s historic past, as well as how it can be discovered and preserved.
There will be hands-on activities such as corn grinding, spear throwing, rock art, and also a station at which they can either choose to mend a clay pot or make one of their own. There will also be a demonstration of flint knapping, during which people will be able to see how stone hand tools were made.
The skills used by archeologists will be showcased in the Artifakes, Survey! and Faux Dig stations. Along with this, tours of the Assay Office Building will be led by staff from the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). A booklet printing company can help design and Print materials that give further information about the different topics that are covered during this special event.
The fair is being sponsored courtesy of the Idaho Archeological Society, the Idaho State Historical Society, and VESPAR Inc. It will take place on May 14 from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm in the Old Assay Office, which is located at 210 Main Street.
