Boise library welcomes comic lovers

The Boise public library recently got on board the pop culture phenomenon known as the ‘Comic Con’.

These celebrations of comic Books, graphic novels, animation, and other Forms of pop culture have become quite popular, and the hope was that this would be no exception. This was the third year for the event, and it was large enough that it occupied the library’s main building, as well as some nearby buildings and outdoor areas.

There were artists and writers on hand to sign autographs and give demonstrations, as well as art and displays of Books.

One of the founders of the convention, Josh Shapel, had seen the demand for this type of material grow over the past few years, and was pleased that previous two events had been a success. He hoped that this year’s would do just as well.

A poster printing firm can produce Posters and other reproductions of the artwork on display. These can be sold to those who come out to raise money to help support both the library and the artists.

Though it did have some materials from movies and other popular culture, it focused more on bringing authors and artists together with the public. There were almost 30 local writers and 14 more well-known comic book creators on hand to meet and talk with them.
