Boise invited to learn about popular Japanese dish

Early this winter, Boise foodies will be able to pay a culinary visit to Japan without ever having to leave their own town.

The Nabe-mono class will introduce students to a one-pot dish that is a popular winter favorite in Japan, where it is often served communally and at family gatherings and other large events. The facilitators will be demonstrating several different varieties of this versatile dish, and showing how it can be adapted by changing a few of the ingredients.

The instructors will be making kimchi nabe (anchovy and pork broth), sukiyaki (a slow-cooked meat dish), and (boiled meat and vegetables with sauces), and the participants will be invited to come together and enjoy the meal as a group. Beverages, including wine and beer, will be available for anyone who would like to purchase one.

The ticket price for this culinary Japanese experience, has been set at $50 each, and it is open to anyone who is age 13 or older. Printed menu cards, Flyers, and an assortment of other marketing materials for this type of occasion can be crafted by an area printing company using graphic design techniques.

The JUMP Share Studio will be the venue for this cooking class and demonstration, and it will be taking place on December 12, starting at 5:00 pm. The deadline to purchase tickets is December 10, and they have been made available on its Eventbrite listing.
