Symposium offers educational tour to Macon food growers

The 2020 Georgia Grown Symposium will address topics that target craft food producers and school nutritionists at a two-day panel.

This event was announced by Georgia’s Department of Agriculture, to give agri-tourism operators a platform to discuss the best practices of food safety, resource management, developing programs, launching new products, and spreading awareness through social media. The farm tour will include several school nutrition panels as well, to debate on issues surrounding school procurement, farm staffing, community partnerships, and the role of craft food producers.

Georgia’s Department of Education will give an update on the farm-to-school activities following the first day of the symposium, in which attendees can meet up with exhibitors to learn about their business services as Georgia Grown members. On the second day, attendees will be able to join an all-day farm tour, where they get to visit agri-tourism operations in Macon. For Georgia Grown members, they will receive a discount if they have a promo code covering the full event.

These craft food panel discussions will include breakfast and lunch between educational sessions. Registration costs $125 for the farm tour and is open until February 1. The Georgia Grown Symposium will be held on February 11 and 12 from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm, at the Macon Marriott City Center Hotel. Agricultural farms can hand out Brochures to touring visitors with the help of brochure printing companies.
