October is known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month around the nation and Macon will be host to the 6th annual ‘Pink Out 5K Run/Walk’ in October. The event is one of many fundraisers orchestrated by United in Pink, who provides funds and resources for affected families.
Those that sign up for the event have the option to sign up for the 5K distance or a shorter 1 mile course. Participants are welcome to either walk or run during this family friendly event. Organizers are allowing strollers on both courses but those pushing strollers will need to start at the end of the pack.
Awards will presented to the top 3 finishers in Overall Male and Female categories as well as top 3 Masters and various age groups for both male and female runners. Trophies will be presented to the team that raises the most amount of donations and the team with the largest amount of members. Race organizers often obtain the awards they present from local Print shops.
Registrants will receive a T-shirt in their race packets, earlier registration will guarantee a particular shirt size. Packets can be picked up in advance of the race at the Belk entrance nearest Wesleyan Drive on Thursday, October 17 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, or Friday, October 18 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
