Billed as “not your average gas station”, QuikTrip, based in Oklahoma, has announced plans to open a station in Macon. The store plans to build a travel center near the city’s Amazon fulfillment center.
Graphic design often helps businesses stand out and QuikTrip is no exception as it is known for its red and white ‘QT’ letter design. Drone footage shows that the sign is lifted to heights that can sometimes be seen from far away, depending on the city’s terrain.
QuikTrip is a privately owned company launched 1958 and it now employs over 20,000 people in 11 states, with approximately 800 stores. Macon was picked because of its growth and the decision to build a travel center will enable the company to offer diesel fuel and also have an entrance designated to big rigs.
If zoning variances are approved, the company would like to start construction during the summer with an expected completion within a year. This location would employ 25 people so the company has announced it is seeking employees who are outgoing and energetic for positions ranging from managers to cashiers.
On its 2018 list of Largest Privately Owned Companies in the United States, Forbes.com ranked QuikTrip number 29, with revenues over $10bn.
QuikTrip’s travel center will be located on Sardis Church Road where it intersects with Nowell and Skipper roads. It will offer a variety of made-to-order items, as well as food and drinks to go.
